Easter 2023 Part 2

Monday 3 rd April The forecast for Monday promised more of the same and a bleary-eyed glance outside first thing suggested said promise had been honored. For the first time this trip I tied a tie – leather obviously, held in the stomach as I buttoned up the waistcoat and headed for the bus stop, just a few yards from the site. Buses from Loftus – further up towards Middlesborough – run to Whitby every half hour or so during the day and the continuation of the two quid single fare deal has certainly made bus travel more appealing. The Arriva app was easy to negotiate and I’d bought a few single tickets prior, knowing I’d be making use of them. Deposited in the bus terminus after a er, spirited ride down Lythe Bank and around the twists and turns of Sandsend I headed to the railway station café for a coffee and scone, breakfast back at the Patsy consisting solely of a banana. Easter 2023 Part 1

To be honest I don’t know why I didn’t go away as soon as school had finished, instead I spent nearly another week at home in the flat getting cabin fever and cheesed off with the miserable weather, so I was glad when Thursday finally arrived and I could get going. Thursday 30 th March First job on arrival at storage was to fit a new leisure battery. You may recall that the current one was playing up on my last trip in February – well I’d taken it home to charge, trying both the so-called smart charger, as well as the ‘dumb’ one alternatively. No joy, it wouldn’t even reach 12v and that dropped away quickly soon after the charger was disconnected. I left it until the last minute of course but found a supplier online who promised free next day delivery, with prices far cheaper than Halfrauds.
