This was based loosely on the BBC Good Food recipe: https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/slow-cooker-spaghetti-bolognese 500g Co- op pork mince - late date reduced to £1.07 - browned and drained of fat. 3 rashers thick cut smoked bacon, chopped and fried. Large onion - chopped and fried. 6 medium carrots - chopped and fried. 4 sticks celery - chopped and fried. 2 400g tins chopped tomatoes. 2 tsp garlic granules. 2 inches tomato puree. Large glass red wine (shiraz cabernet). 1 bay leaf. 250g chestnut mushrooms. 1 tbsp mixed herbs (basil, thyme, parsley, sage and oregano). 500ml approx home made vegetable stock. 1 tsp sugar. Cooked in the slow cooker on low for 6 hours then on high for 1 hour with the lid off, to thicken: Yielded 5 portions at roughly 380g each:
