Easter 2022 | Northern Getaway | Part 1

I should probably clarify for the pedants that the title is not strictly accurate as I shall be back home for the Easter weekend itself. Our school has, as usual, broken up earlier than most state schools; giving the parents, no doubt impoverished from forking out all those school fees, a chance to get away before the prices go up for everyone else! Cynical? Moi? In truth I couldn't decide on a title, much as I couldn't decide which sites to visit. Indecisive? Well I’m not sure about that but regular readers will know that Trev and I have always loved our caravan trips to the North East and I was keen to return but didn't want to just go over old ground again. In the end I settled on a mix, one old (very favourite) site up in Berwick along with a couple of new ones. Stamford Club Site was my chosen stopping off point on the way up - some may remember I had a nice stay here last summer. It was a short distance from the A1, easy to get to and, having no facilities...

Welcome!

Welcome to a new blog from The Blogger in Black, author of the (Get Your) Legs Down , A Load of Nonsense and Ale Archive blogs. Whilst the Ale Archive will remain separate it is my intention to publish all other future scribblings on here, be they about caravanning, cooking, clothes or any other nonsense! I hope it will be more mobile friendly both to you the reader and me. With my next trip coming up very shortly, almost coinciding with my 10th anniversary of our first caravanning adventure it seems a perfect time for a fresh start. The layout and theme is a work in progress and will be tweaked in the coming weeks but I hope you will find it more user friendly. Sadly the quality of the writing will remain the same however – sorry!!

Having set up the basics I headed back down the hill to collect Sandra from Streatham Common station. On returning tea, biscuits and paracetamol were consumed before a much needed and restorative nap. We headed south on the first night to see Hairspray in Bromley. I’d heard of it but needed Google to brush up on the story prior. We took the car rather than a couple of buses to save mucking ...
